This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Loft Insulation Calc at loftinsulationcalc.com ("the site", "we", "us").
The short version
- The site is a set of static pages. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no forms that send data to us.
- We don't use cookies, local storage or similar tracking technologies.
- Calculations run entirely in your browser.
- Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard technical data such as your IP address to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- We don't sell or share your personal information.
Who runs this site

Your calculator inputs
Everything you type into a calculator, such as areas, depths, your climate zone or a price, is processed by your own browser. It isn't sent to us.
To let you bookmark or share a result, the calculator stores your inputs in the page address (the part of the URL after the "?"). That means:
- your inputs may appear in your browser history, like any web address you visit;
- if you share the link, anyone who opens it sees the same inputs; and
- when someone opens a link that contains inputs, the full address is sent to our host as part of the normal request for the page.
The inputs don't include your name or contact details unless you type them in yourself, so please don't.
ZIP code lookup
When you enter a ZIP code, your browser downloads a small data file from our site that covers all ZIP codes starting with the same three digits, then finds your climate zone on your device. Your full ZIP code isn't sent to us.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, run by Cloudflare, Inc. As with any website, when your browser requests a page, Cloudflare receives technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the address requested and the time. Cloudflare processes this to deliver the pages and to protect the site against abuse and attacks. We don't use it to identify you.
Cloudflare is based in the United States, so this data may be processed outside your country. Cloudflare's own privacy policy and data processing terms, including its safeguards for international transfers, apply to that processing.
Our web fonts are served from our own site, so loading a page doesn't contact any font service.
Analytics
We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are useful. It's cookieless, doesn't track you across other sites, and gives us aggregated figures such as page views, referring sites and countries. If it's switched on, your browser loads a small script from Cloudflare when you view a page. We don't use any other analytics, advertising or social media trackers.
If you email us at info@loftinsulationcalc.com, we'll receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you, and we delete it when it's no longer needed for that conversation.
Advertising and affiliate links
The site carries no advertising and no affiliate links today. If we decide to add either, we'll update this policy before they go live, explaining what changes and what choices you have. See our affiliate disclosure.
Your rights in the EU and UK (GDPR)
If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR and UK GDPR apply. Our legal basis for the limited processing described above (server logs for security and delivery, and aggregated, cookieless analytics) is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website. For email, it's our legitimate interest in answering your message.
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have it corrected or deleted;
- restrict or object to its processing;
- receive it in a portable format; and
- complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
Because we don't keep accounts or profiles, we usually hold no data that can be linked to you. To make a request, email info@loftinsulationcalc.com and we'll respond within one month.
Your rights in US states (including California)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar state laws, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to ask us to delete or correct it, and not to be treated differently for using these rights.
- We don't sell or share personal information, including for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We don't collect sensitive personal information.
- Because we don't sell or share, there's nothing to opt out of. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out request anyway.

Children
The site is a general-audience tool and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Links to other sites
Our pages link to sources such as ENERGY STAR, government agencies and manufacturers. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
